Message from the CEO

ASA’s CEO letter to members and friends

September has been whirlwind filled with spectacular events, continuing ASA’s international presence.

As you know, ASA held its 85th Annual International Conference both virtually and in Tampa Bay, FL this month; the 2nd time we’ve taken ASA’s biggest event of the year into a hybrid format. I’d like to recognize the 2022 ASA International Conference committee, sponsors and exhibitors, the presenters, ASA staff, and everyone who attended this year’s conference. What a success! It was wonderful seeing our members and friends in Florida (while still allowing virtual access to those who couldn’t attend in person) and catching up with those who attended the golf outing prior to Conference. The compelling topics and engaging speakers we had this year made this event one to remember. A complete recap and photos of the conference are now available online and recordings from the conference will be emailed to all attendees.  Thinking about Florida, my heart goes out to anyone in the state that was affected by the hurricane. Please reach out to ASA if there is anything we can do to assist you.

I hope to see everyone next year at the #ASAIC23 on October 1-3, 2023 in New Orleans, LA.

*If you would like to volunteer for next year’s ASA International Conference committee or any other ASA committee, please see ASA’s volunteer opportunities.

Leading up to Conference, ASA worked closely with its international partner, UPAV, to hold its ME101 hybrid course which was taught in Spanish by ASA member, Ryan Kinahan. ASA continues to expand its international reach, giving access to premiere education throughout Pan America. With 50 attendees who attended either in person or virtually, the UPAV organization was a huge help turning this Spanish-taught course into fruition. We appreciate their support and are looking forward to more collaborations in the future.

Immediately after our International conference, I also participated in the IVSC AGM 2022 Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with ASA members Jack Beckwith and Jay Fishman. ASA co-sponsored this three-day event which included meetings with representatives of the IVSC and the Board of Trustees and Advisory Forum, and other networking events. Nicholas Talbot and his team did an outstanding job with the program.

On September 16th, I was spotlighted in the Washington Business Journal, another notable mention for this past month. The article: “My Story: Johnnie White on the Virtues of Work and Responsibility”, focuses on how the experiences throughout my life have driven me to my current leadership role at ASA. It was an honor to have been profiled in such a prestigious publication.
