Message from the CEO

ASA’s CEO letter to members and friends

As we wrap up another productive fiscal year and start anew, our eyes are set on the future.

I first want to congratulate our new International Officers: International President, Richard Berkemeier, ASA; International Vice President, Garrett Schwartz, ASA, CEA; and International Secretary/Treasurer, G. Adrian Gonzalez, ASA; as well as our new Region Governors, Discipline Committee Officers, Discipline Governors and Members-At-Large who officially took office July 1st. We are honored to have such dedicated experts be on board with ASA, and we’re eager to support the innovative visions that will continue taking ASA to the next level. Earlier this month I sat down with Ray Moran and iiBV to discuss the appraisal industry and how we can attract young professionals to start their journey into this profession. I went over the different career opportunities for students and young professionals, how to meet firms looking to hire, and the importance of professional education and accreditation. It was great getting into the importance and next steps of onboarding the younger generation into the industry. To view the full interview, click here.

ASA’s NY Fair Value Conference was hybrid on June 16th and was a major success! It was great being back in-person networking with ASA members and friends, while knowing professionals could also take advantage of the educational content from the convenience of their home or office as well. We had some outstanding topics and impressive speakers who really dove deep into each discussion. Thank you to EY for hosting the event, and to Conference Chair, William Johnston for helping promote the event and putting the program together. Great Job!

I also spoke at the start of ASA’s ESOP Virtual Conference on June 21st , sharing ASA news and updates. As virtual events are becoming more and more adopted, it is making it that much easier for ASA to offer its premiere educational opportunities to the masses. It was great to see ASA hosting another specialized virtual event, with spectacular topics and speakers. A special thank you to Chuck Coyne, ASA and Jade Palermo for putting such a remarkable line up together.

In other conference news, I had an amazing time representing ASA participating in the UPAV Valuation Conference in Costa Roca where I was able to reconnect with colleagues and meet appraisers throughout Latin America. ASA continues its international presence, bringing awareness to the industry and to the Society itself. I was honored to have participated on behalf of ASA in the XXXVI UPAV Congress this year, and we are looking forward to continuing to build strong partnerships across the globe.
