Message from the CEO

ASA’s CEO letter to members and friends

On behalf of the ASA HQ staff, a very happy new year to all. I hope that 2022 will allow us to reflect on what’s important in life, to value the friendships and family we have, and to appreciate the opportunities we will see.

Though this past year was a whirlwind of world innovation and technological progression, ASA enters the new year, armed and ready for what’s to come.  I am excited that we will be kicking off this year with several new technology platforms, which includes our website, and a number of outstanding education programs.

We continue to push our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. ASA, Appraisal Institute (AI), American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers (ASFRMA), International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) MBREA, and National Society of Real Estate Appraisers (NSREA) have come together to present a new series of webinars on DEI. Revealing Relevance for the Appraiser Profession is the first webinar which is happening on Monday, January 31, from 1:00-4:00 PM ET. Register for free here.

This past month, ASA announced the opening of registration for its new 2022 ASA Summer Appraisal Camp to be held virtually on August 3-27, 2022. This accelerated, intensive four-week virtual education program provides the skills needed to build a career in appraising personal property, and it also satisfies the educational requirements of ASA’s accreditation process. I encourage all our members to share the invite to any colleagues that may find it appropriate.

In terms of events, registration is open for the 11th Annual ASA Equipment Valuation Conference being held in Charlotte, NC on April 20-22, 2022. Take advantage of the early bird rates through March 20. For those interested in sponsoring this annual event, opportunities can be found here.

Also, please join us for our 56th Anniversary of the ASA-IFA 2022 Eastern Region Appraisal Conference! This event will feature USPAP and State Law courses taught by renowned experts in the appraisal profession. Enjoy the food, music, and entertainment included in this year’s conference.
