Spotlight: The NAIFA Education & Research Trust

For nearly five decades the NAIFA Education & Research Trust has sponsored educational research and charitable activities related to the advancement of the real property appraisal profession.

Founded in 1977, the trust is managed by a board of directors who sit as trustees but have no other legal connection with the trust, which manages its affairs independently of ASA post-merger with NAIFA.

Current members of the board of directors include: Susanne Barkalow, ASA, IFA, Louis Bonato, ASA, IFA, David Doering, ASA, IFA, Mark Evans, ASA, IFAS, Nena Henderson, ASA, IFA, Michael Orman, FASA, IFAC, IFAS, and Monica Trotter, ASA, IFA.

The Trust is supported by contributions and revenue from auctions at ASAʼs annual international conference.

Funds are used to…

  • conduct research
  • promote standards
  • offer scholarships to students
  • provide grants to institutions
  • foster authorship
  • publish materials
  • maintain a library

…all for the advancement of the real property appraisal profession.
