Message from the CEO

ASA’s CEO letter to members and friends

On May 20, I attended ASA’s first ever Complex Securities Conference. The Remo virtual platform gave attendees a chance to truly have that face-to-face feel while networking and it was great to see so many members and non-members, which was over 225 attendees,  in attendance. I’m also very pleased to report that this conference broke ASA attendance records of a discipline-specific event. I want to thank conference chairs, P.J. Patel and Dwight Grant for their outstanding efforts put into making this event such a success.

On a similar note, it was recently announced that I now will also be presenting at ASA’s 10th Annual Equipment Valuation Conference on June 9, where Conference Chair, Matt Kauffman, ASA and I will discuss ASA updates and hear from industry experts about various machinery and equipment trending topics.

On June 10,  I will also be updating the 2021 ASA Fair Value Conference attendees on all things ASA, alongside Conference Chairs Ray Rath, ASA and Bill Johnston, ASA; welcoming the conference attendees and hearing from top leaders in the profession talk fair value.

With Remo as our virtual platform for these events as well, I am much looking forward to being able to interact with all the attendees in such an interactive way.

In other news, it was great to stop in on the International Virtual Chapter meeting on May 17 and see the commitment from our Regional Governors.  Jack Beckwith ASA, CEA also gave a great presentation on compliance in appraisal reports. I eagerly anticipate seeing the programs planned for this chapter throughout the rest of the year.

On May 12, I attended the virtual 2021 Energy Valuation Conference hosted by the ASA Houston Chapter where I was also able to provide an update on ASA and network with the attendees from the Houston area and many different areas as they had attendance that spanned across 12 different countries.

I also attended the virtual ASA Boston Chapter happy hour earlier this month, which was great as we all received 3 bottles of South African wines. I learned a lot about how they produce wine in that part of the world as well as interesting facts I wouldn’t have known otherwise. It was a fun and insightful event and I am looking forward to their next event.

ASA recently announced the two LEARN+CONNECT workshops  that will be coinciding with the 2021 ASA International Conference; Appraisal Insights and Valuing Cannabis Enterprises, that are designed for non-appraiser professionals. These specialized offerings provide corporate executives, advisors or business owners with important insight into the latest appraisal related issues impacting their bottom line. I hope to see everyone virtually or live in Las Vegas, NV on October 24-26.
