American Society of Appraisers CEO, Johnnie White, talks ASA on Executive Leaders Radio

Johnnie White, CEO – American Society of Appraisers

Johnnie White, CEO of American Society of Appraisers spoke with Herb Cohen on Executive Leaders Radio about how his upbringing and family relationships had given him the tools to continue to drive American Society of Appraisers (ASA) forward as a global valuation professional organization. Taking quality traits from both his mother and father, Johnnie has the innate ability to be a great leader, and he shares his approach when tackling such an organization as ASA.

At just 8 years old, Johnnie took charge of his family after his parents divorced. Working odd and end jobs, Johnnie quickly learned the deep responsibility of leadership and did everything he could to support his mother, and to ensure his family had what kids required at that age.

“That’s how I was at a young age – it’s all about innovation. For me, I wanted to build the next best thing from a computer system standpoint. So if you look throughout my career, as I am going into an organization, I’m trying to find the best way to incorporate innovation to make the organization better.”

Listen to the full interview to hear about how Johnnie uses sports analogies and past experiences to explain his technique of being successful in leadership.

“I play the point guard – it’s the supportive personality trait – you’re leading the team and giving the ball to those that you know will make the shot, or taking it upon yourself to make the shot. You need to know when to be a leader, and when to let others be the leader” Johnnie said.
